Welcome!
The Nanoscale Optics and Materials Lab focuses on the development of nanostructure metamaterials, metasurfaces, and meta-optics. The work is supported by a diverse group of students and collaborators from across the globe with backgrounds in Engineering, Materials Science, and Physics.
We are always looking to strengthen the team with motivated graduate students who are interested in tackling some of the most challenging problems at the frontier of nanoscale science and engineering. If this looks like the place for you, contact Prof. Valentine and apply below!
Metamaterials, Metasurfaces, and Meta-optics
Electromagnetic metamaterials, metasurfaces, and meta-optics are materials where structuring is used to engineer optical properties that are not readily found in naturally occuring materials. These materials can have wide ranging applications in areas such as imaging, sensing, detection, and information processing.

Vanderbilt and Nashville
Vanderbilt is located in the center of urban Nashville, one of the fastest growing cities in America and a center for culture, food, and music in the south. But don't take my word for it...
